Hello students and parents!

I thought before you actually meet me, a little note would help break the ice. I have been a teacher at Bridgewater-Raritan High School since 2001. I’ve enjoyed teaching reading and writing (English) and Study Skills to students in grades 9 through 12.

Background Information:

I grew up in Bethesda, Maryland. I was a three sport student-athlete in high school. After high school, I attended Rutgers University and played Division I Field hockey. I had the unique and incredible experience traveling the country.  During college, I met my husband at RU and got married on campus five years later.

After college, I worked in various disciplines such as sports medicine and chiropractic care. I finally realized that my true calling was teaching. While working full-time for the ARC of Union County, I attended Kean University and received my teaching degree in Special Education.

During my time at BRHS, I have become a parent of two beautiful girls, have three cats and a dog. My other hobbies and interests include volunteering, playing and coaching and an overall love for sports.  I played soccer in high school and after college. Additionally, I am a varsity soccer high school official. One of my other passions is playing and managing my softball team and volunteering for the Somerville Rescue Squad, EMS division.

Can't wait to meet you so you can tell me what you are passionate about!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Decker
