Mathematics
We are beginning a new school y
ear at Dudley Elementary School and it's still AWESOME!

In Mathematics we are usig Eureka Math books as support and many suplimental materials as well. This is a very hands on program that will allow your child to take an active part in his/her learning.

We also have a computer based program that is aligned to the common core state standards for both LAL and Math called iReady. It tests each student and provides them individual help in both LAL and Math. They have their own log on and password and can log on anywhere they have internet. Please encourage them to use it as much as they can. There's also a

place for you to log on as a parent to see all their hard work. Check it out!

we are incorporating Social Studies  into our LAL curriculum. This means we will be reading a lot of historic materials in LAL class.

!

sAlso, we are using the SAVAAS science curriculum. This means we will be reading a lot of science materials in class.

I've included some helpful homework sites that you and your child can use to help you help them with their homework and any projects that they may be assigned.

I have also included a HOW TO PLAY CHESS link. Playing chess helps children to think critically - Out of the box - so to say, and reinforces calculated thinking. Encourage them to study the game and practice online or on a real board. It's worth the time!

This year we will be taking the 5h Grade NJSLA test in LAL, Math and Science. I have posted some websites that will give you and your child an idea of what maybe on the test.

    Check it out!
