All About Mrs. Casey

 

   Welcome to 7th grade Civics and U.S. History!  My name is Mrs. Erin Casey.  This is the start of my 22nd year teaching here at BRMS!  WOW!  For eleven years I taught 8th grade Social Studies, and for the last 11 years I have taught 7th grade.

   Ever since I went to pre-school I have wanted to be a teacher.  In high school I fell in love with history and I knew that I had to become a social studies teacher.  So here I am!  I attended Rutgers University where I earned a B.A. in History and a M.Ed. in Social Studies Education.  I recently completed my supervisor certification, also through Rutgers.  In college, I was a member of the Marching Scarlet Knights and the Rutgers University Pep Band.  Can you guess what instrument I played?  Ok, I'll tell you... it was the trombone!

   My husband is Mr. Sean Casey... a seventh grade math teacher.  We both love teaching here at BRMS.  Some of you may know him... he may even be your math teacher this year.  We have two boys -  a highschool sophmore named James and a seventh grader named Kevin.  Oh, and don't let me forget our crazy dogs named Sadie and Archie.  We adopted them from the Island of Aruba!  We live in Metuchen, NJ which is not too far away from Bridgewater.

   There are a LOT of teachers in our family including my brother-in-law (who teaches Phys Ed at Adamsville), sister-in-law who is a professor at Rider University, my mother -in-law who is a retired elementary school teacher and my own sister who teaches high school art and art history.  

   We are also a BIG soccer family... both Mr. Caseys coach at BRHS and both of our little boys and all of my nephews play /  have played.  I love spending time with my family and friends, volunteering, watching both of my boys and my nephews play sports, cooking, photography, traveling and reading.
