Class Procedure
¨ Be prepared for class on a daily basis. Be sure to bring a pencil, a covered textbook, and a notebook JUST for your math class.
¨ Marking period grade is based on the average of: tests, quizzes, homework, class work, projects, writing samples, and/or exams, as applicable.
¨ Lateness to class will ensure detention.
¨ As soon as you enter the room, begin your board work by writing out a homework problem!
¨ If I am late, please be quiet, and start the board work.
¨ If you have any questions, please see me after class.
1. HOMEWORK is important. It will be assigned and it must be done on a daily basis. All work must be done in pencil. Keep all homework neatly done, labeled, and dated. You must copy the exercise, and then solve the problem -- not just the answers! Start your assignments on a new sheet nightly Date it and label it clearly. Homework will be randomly checked and graded; however, we will review the homework every day. Be sure to write all assignments on the board when you enter the room. Do not wait to be told to do so explicitly.
You are responsible for any assignment missed. If absent, excused, or on field trip, it is YOUR responsibility to get and do the assignment. If you need an assignment ahead of time, please see me. It is your responsibility to remind me for your daily homework assignments.
2. QUIZZES are usually announced but they could also be unannounced.
3. TESTS are usually scheduled at the end of each chapter (or as appropriate.) A make-up will only be given with a legitimate doctor’s note. It is your responsibility to schedule a make-up.
4. CLASSWORK includes behavior, attitude, effort, preparedness, punctuality, attendance, board work, and positive contribution to class.
5. ATTENDANCE is important in order to do well in class. If you are absent, YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE for any missed notes and assignments. No one is excused from a test or a quiz due to an absence the previous day. We will adhere to the school's absentee policy. Please become familiar with the policy and keep an accurate account of your absences; including all excused absences.
6. FIELD TRIPS excused you from class, not work! See me for your assignment prior any planned absence. Tests and quizzes should not be missed. See me to make arrangements.
7. DESKS: Please do not write on the desks. Let me know when you arrive if there is writing on your desk.
8. EXTRA HELP is available. Do not hesitate to speak to me about any concerns, questions, or problems.
