Classroom Expectations
1. Everyone will be respected equally, which includes maintaining mindfulness of voices and personal space.
2. We will be prepared and attentive at the start of class. This includes having all work printed before entering the room and homework placed on your desk. This also includes having writing instruments, etc. with you.
3. We will try our hardest to accomplish every task by remaining focused and on-task, therefore no extra credit will be given.
4. We will leave all distractions (cell phones, other electronics, and food) outside of the classroom. Use of electronics will result in a detention via the attendance office.
5. We will be on time to class, or we will arrive with a valid pass.
6. We will be organized and request work or obtain it from late folders if we are absent.
7. We will keep a notebook that may be checked intermittently as a quiz or test grade.
Grading Policy
20% Homework - Homework checks may be for full or partial credit based on completeness. However, collected assignments may be graded for content and accuracy. While everything is out of 100, it may be weighted as more or less, depending on the task. Reading checks will fall here. Vocabulary presentation planning will fall here.
NOTE: Homework will be accepted up to one day late for a 50-point deduction. Homework is late if it is not submitted at the start of class.
15% Class Work – Class work, group work, and on-task behavior fall into this category. Vocabulary presentations will fall here.
NOTE: No late classwork will be accepted.
35% Tests and Major Projects/Papers – Some major projects will be counted as several major grades as different drafts or elements are assessed.
NOTE: All late projects lose 10 points per day. Turning assignments in late in the day is the same as turning it in the next day.
30% Quizzes and Small Projects/Papers – Quizzes will be announced. Reading checks (in the homework category) will not be. Expect them every day.
NOTE: All late projects lose 10 points per day. Turning assignments in late in the day is the same as turning it in the next day.
