Dear Parents-

Welcome to Miss Chao's website, I am an English teacher at Memorial High School, currently teaching grades 10 and 11. I am here to provide your child with academic support in the areas of Reading and Writing. The main goal of this class is to help the students develop a love for reading and writing and follow the high school English curriculum based on the grade level that they are in.

I am looking forward to working with your child this year. I hope we will continue to do what is best for our students and their safety in the school setting.  

Reading is very important in improving your child's academic achievements.  Please make sure that your son or daughter reads regularly and tries to read and write as often as possible.  

 

I have one rule in class- that is RESPECT YOURSELF, RESPECT OTHERS, AND RESPECT THIS PLACE. The students should also be wearing their uniforms and IDs at all times.  The students in my class should always have their Chromebooks charged.  I  do not allow the students to be on their cell phones during class time. I have a bin in the front of the classroom where the students are expected to leave their phones at the beginning of the class period.

All of the assignments are posted on Google Classroom so that if your child is absent, they can check the Google Classroom and make up any work that is due.  I also include the class notes for the students to review.  If you have any questions or concerns, you may also send a note with your child, and I will gladly reach out to you. Tests: 35% 

Quizzes: 25%

Participation/Projects: 20%

Journals/Writing: 15%

Homework: 5%

Materials needed for my class:

-Binder ( One inch or One and a half inch)

-Looseleaf paper for the binder

-Pens, pencils, highlighter

I have provided each student with a plastic folder and a Writers' Notebook for use in the class.
