Literacy

Wenonah School uses the reading series Wonders for our language arts/literacy program.  It includes reading comprehension, grammar, spelling and phonics skills.  There is an online component to the series which you can access from home.  Your child will have a password (located on a sheet in hw binder) which will open his/her individual page.  Once there, you can find all of the stories we will be reading during that week, as well as other skills that will be covered.  It is a great resource for you to see what your child is doing in school, and to provide extra practice for your child at home.  I hope you will find it useful.

In addition to Wonders, we will have small group instruction during E&I time based on guiding reading levels.  You will be notified about your child's E&I program each trimester.  

We will be using Writing by Design for our writing instruction. Units in informational, narrative and opinion writing will be covered.
