Dear Second Graders,

Welcome to our class!  I hope you are having a wonderful summer vacation. My name is Mrs. Martinez and I willbe your teacher this year. 

 

Just a few things about Mrs. Martinez: I am so excited to finally meet you. This will be my 32nd year of teaching.   I have taught second and third grade. Here are some of my favorites. My favorite color is blue. My favorite baseball team is the Yankees. My favorite movie is The Wizard of Oz. My favorite ice cream flavor is Rocky Road. I have a dog named Coco. I have two younger brothers, 1 niece, and three nephews. I love to shop, travel, bake, and cook. Dunkin Donuts and Starbucks are my favorite places to grab a coffee. My husband and I love to travel and go to the movies every Tuesday. We enjoy spending time with friends and family. I am terrified of spiders and insects. I love teaching and I am super excited to have you in my class this year! 

 

Please bring in headphones in a plastic bag labeled with your name.  You will use these during Daily 5. Don't forget a lunchbox and a reusable water bottle. Please label it with your name as well. These items will be returned to you at the end of the school year.  

It is recommended that you do not purchase a rolling backpack.  Unfortunately, rolling backpacks do not fit into the cubbies and because of limited space in the classroom, there is no place to store them within the room.  Note that the weight of the backpack is something seriously considered when sending home schoolwork.  

 

 

Our first day of school is September 8th.  Please remember to bring in a snack, your lunch, and a drink. Remember to bring the school supplies you purchased. 

 

Bring in a picture of something you did over summer break. We will share the pictures during our first Morning Meeting.
