About the Teacher:
I am the youngest of three girls. I graduated from the University of Louisiana in Monroe in Elementary Education 1-8 and in Leadership & Supervision. I have one son. In my spare time, I love reading and writing creatively.
Philosophy or Core Belief
Every child can learn something about the subject in some way. We have to work to find out what works and how they seem to learn best.
Keyboarding
Students will become acquainted with proper techniques and instructional methods for keyboarding. This will familiarize students with the principles of touch keyboarding techniques and correct posture.
Keyboarding Objectives:
-Visually locate the home-row keys
- Sit up straight with feet flat on the floor (fingers curved, wrists slightly raised off the keyboard) while demonstrating proper hand placement and writing position
- Develop speed with accuracy by touch
- Perform touch numeric/symbol keying on the keyboard
- Use keyboarding skills in other classes
- Compose and save information using the keyboard
- Create and format letters and slide shows
Grading:
Each student receives 4.5 points daily for sitting with the correct posture, eyes on the screen, and fingers on the home/base keys. Students start with 100 and 4.5 points are deducted daily if they refuse to comply with the expected posture and hand positioning. This is a total of 2-100 point grades. There will be paper tests occasionally. Students will receive a study guide a week before testing. Study guides can be accessed under the main menu tab on this page. There will also be typing tests, but scores are not based on speed, they are based on accuracy.
As we embark on this journey together, there may be a lot of questions. Please rest assured that I may not answer the question within minutes, but I assure you, I will respond to your emails and Remind questions.
