Hi, my name is Mrs. Jodie Mapes and I am a Special Education Alternate Assessment Teacher at Lake Pontchartrain Elementary School. 

 

 

Education and Experience:

 

 

  • 29 years as an Educator-14 years as a Middle School Teacher (ELA, Mathematics, Science),  9 years as the Library-Media Specialist at LPE, and 2 years as the Computer Technology Literacy Teacher at LPE, 1 year as an 4th grade ELA & Social Studies  Teacher.  This year will be my third year as a Special Education Teacher.
  • Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education (1st-8th Grades)- December, 1988 Southeastern Louisiana University
  • Library Science Administration Add-on Certification-Southeastern Louisana University-Summer 2009 Completed
  • Masters of Educational Technology Leadership-December 2011  Southeastern Louisiana University
  • Certifications in EdTech Leadership and EdTech Facilitator December 2011-Southeastern Louisiana University
  • Certifications in Microsoft Office  Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and IC3

 

 



I have been a resident of St. John the Baptist Parish since I was 2 years old, however I recently moved to Tangipahoa Parish.  I met my husband when I was in college at SLU and we were both serving in the 236th Louisiana Air National Guard Combat Communication Sqaudron in Hammond, Louisiana, where I served as an Air Traffic Control Specialist for 8 years. Tommy and I have been married for 36 years and we have two grown children, Brantley and Britton.  I also have a 9 year old Blue-Heeler (Australian Cattle herding dog) named Cecil Jack and a 3 year old Blue-Heeler named Ziggi.
