There is lots of learning going on in Kindergarten!
We will be working on the following learning goals:
Quarter 4 (March 20-May 25):
Foundational Skills: identifty and produce rhyming words, manipulate phonemes to make words
Letter Identification: A-Z upper and lowercase letters
Sight Words: All 100 sight words
Phonemes: orally say phoneme sounds for a-z, sh, ch, th, wh
Comprehension: In stories read aloud and simple passages read independently: character setting sequence of a story, classify and catergorize, compare & contrast, main idea, realism & fantasy
Spelling words: Tested each week on Fridays; cumulative grade at interims and report card
Writing: Write four complete sentences on a topic, including proper capitalization, punctuation, including uses of nouns and verbs.
Science: observation of properties: shape, size, color, temperature, weight, texture, the 5 senses, similarities and differences of living things
Social Studies: Describe why people work, different jobs and the tools used, recognize money as bills and coins, identify the difference between wants and needs
Math: Count to 10 by ones, Count on from any given number to 10, Read and write numbers 0-10, Represent each number 0 to 10 using objects or pictures, write the number to tell how many in a set of objects up to 10, 1:1 correspondence for 0 through 10, Count sets 0 to 9, add one object and tell how many without recounting; 2D & 3D Shapes: square, triangle, circle, hexagon, cube, sphere, cone, cylinder; spatial/locational terms: below, next to, above, behind
