Mrs. DiFrancia’s Classroom Cell Phone Policy
Although cell phones can be an extremely useful tool and have become a part of our daily lives, they have also become extremely distracting and often disruptive in the classroom. With each student having their own device provided to them by the school, cell phones are no longer necessary for accessing educational applications and websites and are therefore not tolerated in my classroom. Outlined below are my expectations for cell phones and earbuds in room C203.
-Cell phones are not permitted to be out in class at any time without prior teacher approval.
-Cell phones are to be placed into your assigned pouch in the pocket organizer as soon as you enter class.
-If you do not have a phone, you must place one of the laminated cards in your assigned pouch; the card reads:
“I do not have a cell phone today, I understand that if I am
caught with my cell phone in class, it is an automatic write up.”
-By placing the card in the pouch, you are confirming that you do not have a phone or that your phone is away in your locker and will not be seen and/or used during class; breaking this agreement
will result in an automatic write up each time.
-You are not permitted to touch other students’ phones at any time.
-You are not to have any type of earbuds in your ears during class unless the teacher asks students to do so in order to independently watch a video for an assignment. Having earbuds in without
permission will result in a warning for the first offense, followed by a write up for each additional offense.
-Students are sometimes given permission to listen to music during independent work time; if a student is using their phone to listen to music, they must set a playlist on their phone and leave it in
the pouch for use with bluetooth headphones; this may only be done with teacher permission.
-All district policies regarding images and videos of students and staff are to be followed while in the classroom.
