WELCOME TO THIRD GRADE

LEVI MILTON ELEMENTARY

We are off to a great start for the 2020-2021 school year. I am looking forward to an academically profitable year for your child. I am eager to talk to you concerning your child’s individual progress. If and when you have concerns or questions, please text, call me (225-937-0955), or the school office at 664-9711 to set up an appointment for a conference. I am available for conferences Tuesday and Wednesday mornings from 7:30-7:55.

Parent – Teacher – Child: The Academic Team
Learning is a three-way partnership between the parent, child, and teacher. I ask for your support and cooperation. A good relationship between the parent and teacher will make learning easier for your child. Please let me know any concerns you may have regarding your child’s progress. Write a note, call me or send an email. I will answer you as soon as possible.

Homework:
Students do not usually have a lot of homework.  However, class assignments will need to be completed at home if they are not finished at school. If a student does not complete his/her assignments in class, they will be required to copy it down in the assignment planner. Most homework will be to review/study the weekly content for up coming assessments.  Please check your child’s DOJO/planner each night and initial it.

Website:
Our class has a website!  It is hard to update the website according to each studnet, so some homework may be on there that is not in your child’s planner. Please go by what is in the planner or on class dojo.  Some things change at the last minute.

Here are the instructions to access the website:

  • Go to www.lpsb.org
  • Click the parents link
  • Click on Oncourse for parents
  • Click on Levi Milton Elementary School
  • Click on Norris, Danielle

Everything will be marked on DOJO.  I will give the students a verbal warning.  Then the student will be asked to move to a refocus chair in the room.  Then the student will be asked to write a note in their planner explaining their behavior choice and a parent will be asked to sign the note.  Afterwards the student will loose recess and a parent will be called or a note home in the planner.  Lastly, the student will report to the office for further discipline such as after school dentention or suspension.
Parties:
We will have a party this school year, which will likely be a Winter holiday party or a Spring holiday party. I will send party notes about two weeks before the celebration. If you are interested in coordinating a party for our class, I would certainly appreciate it. Please email or send a note if you are interested. Birthday parties can be celebrated, just please let me know in advance.

Field Trips:
We will have two field trips this year; one will be in the fall and the other will be in the spring. I will try to give 4 weeks advance notice so parents can make arrangements to help chaperone if desired.

Attendance:
Please make every effort to have your child present and on time each school day. Being absent or late for school can affect a child’s ability to learn and perform to his/her potential. It is difficult for a student to make up missed class work. Help make this year a smooth and productive one by emphasizing attendance and punctuality.

***Many grades this year will come from class work, group work, participation in class, and observations made by the teacher. Therefore, it is very important that your child attend school regularly.***

If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know. I look forward to working with you and your child this year. Let’s make this the best year ever!
