Art II is a continuation of Art I. The course focuses on the exploration of the exciting world of the visual arts. Art, as experienced throughout history, will be discussed and studied. Throughout this process students will develop their imagination, learn the Elements and Principals of Design, explore various art mediums and gain a deeper appreciation for art as seen in its many forms in the world around us.
ART FEE:
THERE IS A $20.00 ART FEE FOR ALL ART STUDENTS. ART FEES MUST BE PAID WITHIN THE FIRST THREE WEEKS OF SCHOOL (BY SEPTEMBER 2, 2016). THIS FEE WILL BE USED TO PURCHASE THE ART SUPPLIES NECESSARY FOR THIS CLASS.
Required Materials:
1. A pack of #2 pencils (STUDENTS MAY NOT USE MECHANICAL PENCILS)
2. 1 Three Prong Folder and paper for keeping Art Notes in Main Binder.
Classroom Rules:
1. Be in your seat with materials ready by the tardy bell.
2. DO NOT bring food, drinks or gum to class.
3. Cell phones will be collected and given to the office if visible or heard in class, according to RPSB policy.
4. The teacher dismisses the class, not the bell.
5. Treat the teacher and other students with courtesy and respect at all times.
ALL OTHER SCHOOL AND PARISH POLICIES WILL BE FOLLOWED AND ENFORCED
Student Requirements:
1. Attend class regularly– FOLLOW RPSB POLICIES.
2. Participate in daily art activities and in other class activities (reading assignments, discussions, group work, etc.).
3. Students will take notes and be prepared for art tests during the year and a FINAL EXAMINATION
4. Students must complete homework assignments (individual and group).
5. Students must take all quizzes/tests. They will take a Pre-Test and a Post-Test.
Grading:
1. Weekly Class Assignments (100 points) 3. Daily Drawing Journal (50 points per week)
2. Daily Participation Grade (10 points) 4. Art History Tests and Art Theory Tests (100 points-periodically)
GRADING SCALE WILL FOLLOW RAPIDES PARISH SCHOOL BOARD POLICY
Make-up Work:
- The student must make up all missed homework assignments.
- The student must schedule a time to make-up all missed class assignments upon return to class.
- The student must schedule a time to make-up all missed tests upon return to class.
This will serve as the syllabus for this class. Students will be given a copy of this syllabus during the first week of class. They must have it signed by a parent or guradian and return it within one week.
