Welcome to 3rd & 4th Grade LEAP!

 

Dear Families,

 

Welcome! My name is Mrs. Tsakiris, and I am your child’s Special Education Teacher. I have been teaching in district for 28 years and love what I do.  I'm looking forward to partnering with you to support your child’s growth and success.

 

In our classroom, we focus deeply on providing a safe, nurturing place for social, emotional, and academic growth. Our ultimate classroom goal is to provide a highly positive learning experience, encouraging growth and progress for each and every student.  All students work on grade-level material with individualized modifications as needed to thrive.

 

Here is a quick overview of our day and the resources we will use to achieve this goal:

 

 

📋 Our Classroom Structure

 

  • Core Instruction: I provide direct instruction in Language Arts and Mathematics in a small group setting to maximize individual progress.  I teach 2 grade levels and alternate my time between both groups.
  • General Education: Students remain in the General Education classroom for all other activities to ensure a fully inclusive experience. Assignments are modified as needed.
  • Para Support: Paraprofessional support is available throughout the entire day to assist students across settings.  Paras remain with students, excluding lunch.
  • Push-In Support: I will provide support in the general education classroom 2 times each week for 20-minute blocks to support students directly in Science and Social Studies. 

 

 

📈 Grading & Success

 

Teachers value growth and mindset, making effort and participation part of your child's final grade. Students are expected to try their best and remain actively engaged throughout their day.  All classwork is on grade level and modified as needed.  All classwork is reviewed and collected for a final grade.  Specials have their own assignments and grading policy.  

 

 

💻 Digital Platforms & Homework Support

 

All district-approved digital platforms are easily accessed at home via Classlink by signing in with Google. We use the following programs weekly to support classroom learning:

 

  • ELA & Social Studies: Wonders/WonderWorks, Raz-Kids, and ReadWorks
  • Science: Savvas Science
  • Math Practice & Reviews: Amplify, Common Core Supplemental Practice, Prodigy, and Blooket
