(AP, Honors, Zoology)
GOAL AND DESCRIPTION
This course defines biology/zoology and its relationship to other sciences. We examine the overarching theories of life from biological research and also explore the fundamental concepts and principles of the study of living organisms and their interaction with the environment. We will examine how life is organized into hierarchical levels; how living organisms use and produce energy; how life grows, develops, and reproduces; how life responds to the environment to maintain internal stability; and how life evolves and adapts to the environment

ASSIGNMENTS
There will be ample time for a student to complete an assignment. Students are expected to complete ALL homework, laboratory exercises, quizzes, tests, and special projects. Failure to complete an assignment by the due date will result in a grade reduction for the assignment. For each day an assignment is late, 10 points will be removed from the final grade. An assignment is due at the beginning of class and is to be handed in at that time. All students are expected to participate in all aspects of the course. After 1 week, 7 days upon your return from illness etc. all assignments are due. Failure to complete assignments result in a ZERO, 0.
If you CUT, No work can be made up and you will receive a ZERO.

Any assignment that is due the day you are absent must be turned in the day you return. Missed tests must be made up within the five (7) allowed days. Remembering to turn in your work and make-up your tests is your responsibility.
If notes are part of the assignment, you are expected to get notes from a classmate (best time is at the beginning of the period). Please feel free to come and speak with me about extenuating circumstances.

CLASSROOM RULES:
Please know I will enforce all school policies; no exceptions will be made. You are responsible for knowing all school policies. Please read the Memorial High School Handbook located online on the main website. It is also given to every student.
Every class has a Google Classroom page. Parent/guardians are also invited to join the Google Classroom. Email me for the Google Classroom code or have your student share the code with you. Google Classroom is a great way to keep up with assignments and what is being taught in class.
A note about Progress Reports and Report Cards: Please pay attention to the comment as much as the grade. I put a lot of thought into the comment so you have a way to know how your student is doing in class. “Request Parent Visit” comment usually indicates a failing grade and is alerting you that action needs to be taken to aid the student.
