2nd Grade Newsletter

Week of June 5, 2023

*************************

Reminders:

1.Shape Museum: We will be having our shape museum tomorrow! Please have your child find several different solid shapes around their house (cylinder, sphere, cone, pyramid, cube, or rectangular prism). Have them review with you how many faces, edges, and vertices each shape has. They will be showing these shapes to 1st grade tomorrow and telling them all about the shape.

2. Cowboy Day: On Friday, we will be having a Cowboy Day! Have your child wear a cowboy themed outfit and bring in stuffed animal horses and cows. If anyone has a lasso, and would like to send it in, that would be great too.

3. Field Day: Please see the flyer that was sent home today about Field Day. Please make sure that your child has a bathing suit under their clothing (we have water slides first thing) and a change of clothes. It would be helpful if the change of clothes is the same team color since their initial shirt and shorts might get wet. Also, don't forget to send in a water bottle with your child and a towel.

4. Books and extra papers: I will be sending home workbooks, projects, folders, crayon boxes, and papers this week and next week.  Please check your child's bookbag and remove everything from the previous day so that they can have room for things that will be sent home the next day.

5. Water Bottles: Please make sure that your child brings in a water bottle everyday. I have many students asking to leave the classroom to get drinks. We do not have a water fountain in the classroom. It is very important that students have a water bottle, so that they do not miss any class time.

6. Dry Erase Markers: I am very low on dry erase markers. Please ask your child if they need dry erase markers and send them in this week.

 In Class this Week:

English Language Arts: We will be finishing up some writing assignments, reviewing some skills, and reading various stories this week.

Math: We will be learning about 2-D and 3-D shapes. Our final math test will be on Friday.

Science: We will be learning about the water cycle.
