                Welcome,

My name is Ms. Tonja Thompson.  I am currently a 5th grade Special Education/Case Teacher here at Spring Creek Elementary School.   I am the mother of 3 sons.  I have a true passion and dedication for my education due to it being the foundation of my upbringing along with many of my family members being educators.  I have been teaching for 20 years with 18 of those years serving students in our district's Special Education population.  I hold a B.S. in Biology from Grambling State University, and a Master's in Education/ Special Educaiton from Grand Canyon University.  I am certified in the state of Arizona and also our home state of Louisiana.  Throughout my years as a Special Education teacher, my greatest accomplishments from year to year is seeing the progress and growth of my students.  Seeing this in my students drives my dedication to educating students year after year.  I look forward to making positive growth with my students this school year.  My classroom theme for this 2024-2025 school year is "Positive Vibes Only."  This is their year to shine! Our class is deocrate with cool LED lights to remind my students that they shine in their academics, and hroughout our

classroom are many sayings that will help to motivate and encourage my then to do their best.  From the start of school I teach my students that can't should not be in their vocabulary.  You may ask why?  I teach them not to count themselves out before they try, because surely each of them can do somthihng no matter what the task is.  They learn to do whatever the task may be to the best of the ability and not others.  So, that's right we don't use can't.   We can! and We will!
