Dear Parents,
Welcome to a new school year. My name is Delometria Story and I am your child’s third grade teacher at Woodland Park Magnet School. I am excited about teaching your child this year.
It is my philosophy that all children can learn given the needed supplies, materials and proper environment. It is my contention that all child can learn, but they may not learn in the same manner. You can be assured that your child will be given every opportunity to maximize his/her own learning capabilities. Secondly, I believe that children should construct their own knowledge. My role as your child’s teacher will not only be as a dispenser of knowledge, but as a facilitator of their learning. Finallly, I firmly believe that parental involvement directly relates to a student’s success. To ensure this success, it is important that we maintain open communication throughout the school year.
It is my desire that your son/daughter leave my classroom with both academic and social growth. Your son/daughter will be required to participate in various cooperative learning projects that will help facilitate appropriate social interactions. These social situations will help foster cooperation, compromise, and respect for others. Secondly, I want your child to learn the importance of responsibility.
