General Information
For 2016-2017 you will receive 2 Psychology grades.
- One grade for SLU
- Second grade for ESJHS
The assessment plans for these 2 grades are DIFFERENT. Please review them both very carefully with your parents. If you or your parents have any questions or concerns please contact me.
Students will receive a monthly calendar with assignments, quizzes, homework, activities, test, etc. This calendar is a guide and subject to minor changes. By using the calendar the students can come prepared for every class and if illness occurs they will not fall behind with their course of study.
All DE tests, quizzes, and Learn Smart activities must be completed using the Connect server system. Each student is required to have access to this server. We will complete registration for Connect in class. There may be a minor fee for the use of this software for dual enrollment students. Our computer lab time is very restricted, so each student must plan to work on Learn Smart activities at home.
Course Requirements:
· Quizzes: There will be eight quizzes in this course. See SLU syllabus for description.
- DUE dates for quizzes will be posted on monthly calendar.
· Tests: There will be four tests worth 100 points each. See SLU syllabus for description.

- Assignments/Homework: Students will be given various class assignments and homework. For example: course objectives, learning smart activities, terminology analysis, scenario activities etc.
- Some class time will be attributed to working on the Learn Smart activities. These activities are on the Connect server and must be completed outside of class.
- Learn Smart activities are review activities and will aid in students retaining a greater grasp of the information being studied.
- DUE dates can be found on the monthly calendar.
· Final Exam: There will be a comprehensive final exam that will be worth 120 points. It will consist of 60 multiple choice items and will be administered through the online system during class time and within a strict time limit that will be announced.
Assessment Plan:
- East St. John High grades are weighted as follows. Please note that this is different from the SLU grading system.
- Unit Test, Quizzes, Projects 70%
- Practice activities, Class Assignments, Homework 30%
- Dual Enrollment Assessment Plan:
- 1. Tests 400 points (4 tests @ 100 points each)
- 2. Quizzes 120 points (8 quizzes @ 15 points each)
- 3. Final Exam 120 points
- Total Points 640 points

Absences/Make-ups:
- You must have an Excused absence in order to make up any graded assignments given during your absence.
- It is imperative for you to be here every day. If an absence is unavoidable, please refer to your monthly calendar and return to class prepared for the day’s lesson. There will be an assignment binder in class for you to receive information about, activities, notes, etc that were passed out in your absence.
- If you miss a test/quiz/graded assignment:
- You must check with me the day you return to school and schedule your make-up to be completed within two school days.
- If you fail to attend the scheduled make-up session you will receive a zero.
Course Fees/Supplies:
- Fees: Dual Enrollment students are can have two classes per year paid for by the St. John Parish School System; additional classes are $150, but textbook rental and computer access are included.
- Textbook: Title: Understanding Psychology, 12th edition

- ALL students are mandated to have a textbook sleeve/cover.
- Students are responsiblefor their own textbook. If they lose or damage the text supplied by SLU they must pay the cost to replace it (approximately $180).
- All students are required to register for the McGraw-Hill Connect Psychology system called Learn Smart.
- Supplies:
