WELCOME TO 6TH GRADE SPANISH

SPANISH PROJECTS ARE DUE THE WEEK OF 1/17/23

WHAT TO EXPECT

WHEN WILL I HAVE SPANISH?

Class meets once every 4th school day for 40 minutes.

WHAT AM I GOING TO LEARN THIS YEAR IN SPANISH?

During 6th grade you are going to put in use what you learned during 4th and 5th grade in a meaningful context. You will participate in the study of two units:

Unit 1 "Más Allá de Mi Mundo" (Beyond My world")

This 6th grade Spanish curriculum consist of a STEM unit which intends to integrate science  across the curriculum. Students will learn about the Solar System while building upon the skills, knowledge, and experiences from their 4th and 5th grade Spanish instruction. Students will be able to use their target language in meaningful tasks and communication about the planets.  Deeper learning will be promoted by combining relevant contents, and teaching knowledge in context of other knowledge. Students will make connections with what they are studying in their science class while using Spanish as a vehicle to improve and extend learning.

Unit 2 "Ayudando a Mi Planeta"  (Helping My Planet)

Students will learn ways in which they can combat climate change by making a positive impact on the earth. Students will learn about which resources they can reduce, reuse, and recycle.  They will learn to make simple comparisons to recycling in other countries and will ask simple questions of one another.

HOW AM I GOING TO BE GRADED?

You will have a numeric grade, juts like all other classes in 6th grade. Participation in class and completion of assignments will be crucial to your sucess in class, since we do not see each other as often as your other subjects.
