Welcome to 8th Grade Social Studies! 

 

Welcome to an exciting year of exploring the history of the United States and Louisiana Gallopade Curriculum, we will journey through the late 1800s to the present, discovering the people, events and ideas that have shaped our nation and state. Together we'll investigate history through engaging lessons, primary sources, maps, political cartoons, historical documents, and meaningful class discussions.

 

 

What We'll Explore

 

Throughout the year, students will learn about

 

  • Industrialization and America's growth
  • Westward expansion and immigration
  • World War I and World II
  • The Civil Rights Movement and the Modern Era
  • Louisiana's unique history and its impact on our nation

 

 

I have high expectations for EVERY student because I know each one is capable of success.  Students are expected to come to class to prepared, actively participate, complete assignments on time, demonstrate respect for others, and maintain excellent behavior and attendance.
