Course Syllabus

This course is designed to provide students with the skills needed to gain employment in various retail occupations. Emphasis is placed on skill development in personal career management and human relations through customer service. Critical thinking skills, oral and written communication skills are reinforced in this course through the use of business application projects. The end goal for this course is for each student to become Customer Service Certified through the National Retail Federation.

Fee:   $30 (covers certification testing and course workbook materials)

 

You will be working from the Marketing Text: Marketing Essentials as well as the Customer Service workbooks.

 

Students are expected to observe all THS and Rapides Parish policies. In addition, here are some specific rules for the lab.

 

  1. Be in your seat and QUIET when the tardy bell rings.
  2. NO drinks or food! NO GUM.
  3. No electronic devices of any kind. (If seen or heard it will be taken)
  4. Raise your hand and be recognized during class.
  5. Respect your peers.
  6. You are responsible for your work station/desk. If something is out of order, report it to the instructor as soon as you begin or you will be held accountable.
  7. You will be assigned an account to use the network. Do not bring other storage media.
  8. No outside media (CDs, DVDs, jump drive or headphones) are allowed.
  9. Log off of the network before leaving the classroom.
  10. If I observe a student using their cell phone for ANY reason, it will be taken and turned into the office.  There is a $15 fee to have it returned. (checking the time, seeing who a text was from, etc…)

 

 

You will be graded on vocabulary, chapter/unit tests, projects, group assignments, workbook assignments, and lab assignments.

 

Grade Scale  A–(93-100)   B–(85-92)   C–(75-84)   D–(74-67)   F–(66 & Below)

 

Grades will be posted on Power School weekly.

 

If you are absent, it is your responsibility to make-up any missed work or tests.  Schedule a time to make-up your work.  A 0%  will be recorded for each missed assignment if not made up by the end of the grading period.
