Computer Technology & Literacy
This course was designed to assist students with exploring the digital world and developing skills necessary to create a foundation of knowledge they need to succeed in the environments that require the use of computer and the Internet. Students will be focusing on skills needed for a future in computers, or any field that requires the use of computers. This course will assist the students in assessing their personal strengths and weaknesses as they discover the most relevant skills needed in today’s academic and business environments. This course will aid the student in developing internationally recognized standards for digital literacy. The student will develop knowledge and skills in this course that are generic to all computer occupations and necessary for preparing to obtain future employment in a digital career field.
Course Fee is $10 per year
Class Materials Needed
PORTABLE STORAGE DEVICE (thumb drive or jump drive - any brand)
AT LEAST 4 GIG
1/2 inch 3 ring binder (or folder)with pockets or insert pocket sleeve
Loose-leaf paper in binder
Pen or Pencil (whichever you prefer)
**Ream of white 8 1/2 x 11 copy paper (turned into the teacher)**
Grading
The Grading Scale adopted by Rapides Parish will be used.
100% to 93% = A
92% to 85% = B
84% to 75% = C **Bonus Point Projects & Assignments will be available during
74% to 67% = D each grading term and are OPTIONAL for any student.
66% and below = F
Attendance
All students are fully responsible for all work missed and have ONE WEEK to complete and turn in for a grade. If a student makes an arrangement to make up work before, or after school or during an enrichment period on a specific day and then does NOT show up on that arranged time, the grade of ZERO will be given for the missed work. This assignment will NOT be given a third chance to be made up. Students must learn responsibility and show up when they have made an appointment. NO SHOW = NO CREDIT
Procedures
1. Be seated and ready to work when the tardy bell rings. KIR will be issued for tardiness.
2. Sit in assigned seat.
3. ALL work will be saved with a school appropriate title and in the proper location as directed. The grade of "0" zero will be issued for any incorrectly saved work. A KIR will be issued for any inappropriate wording.
4. All work MUST have the student's name typed on the document. NO NAME = NO CREDIT
5. Most assignments are turned in via digital technology (jump drive, email, CD/DVD, etc). Individual specific directions will be given for each assignment. Points will be deducted for not following the directions.
6. Bonus Point assignments and activities will be available each grading period and are optional.
