Get a good night's rest--- Have a set time for bedtime.
Supply a healthy breakfast----Low sugar(we don't need a sugar high/sugar dop).  Breakfast is served at school.  If your child will be eating at school, please remind them to eat as soon as they get off the bus and get inside the gym.  If they play around first, they will not have time to eat here.  If that is a problem, you might consider feeding them at home before they catch the bus.  Students are marked tardy if they are not in the classroom at bell time.  Remind them to eat and leave the lunchroom and promptly return to the gym. If you bring them to school, they should be here by 7:25 to eat breakfast.
Bus---It is best to let them ride the bus. This will help build self confidence, also.  It is better for them, me and the rest of the class if everyone is on time and we are able to begin our day on time.  If your child will be riding a different bus in the afternoon, I must have a dated note stating what bus they will ride.  Otherwise, I will put them on their regular bus.  Please do not call the school at the last minute and tell Mrs. Claudia about a bus change.
Attendance---It is very important that students be here everyday.  If they are absent, please have an excuse with them upon their return.  If they will be absent for an extended period of time, you can check with me for work missed.  If they only miss a few days, we will make it up in class.  The school awards students for perfect attendance.  There is a reward for students that are absent three or less days.  This award will be presented to students at our close out program in May.
Lunch---
Students are encouraged to try the different items on lunch plates that are provided in the cafeteria.  Please encourage your child to eat a good lunch daily.  Our lunchroom ladies have a nice lunch daily for them.  You may choose to let your child bring a bag lunch.  However, please be sure that your child is able to open all of the containers that are in their lunch box.  If you have any questions concerning your lunch bill, please contact Mrs. ANDREA in the lunch room.
Candy Recess
---
Students may pruchase items at he candy stand.  Prices vary from 25 - 75 cents.  This is parent choice.  Remind students to keep money in a safe place inside booksack.  Money should never be in their pocket.
Homework---It is given on Monday and returned on Friday.  Have a quiet area set aside for homework.  Keep it on a schedule if possible.  Daily homework should not last any more than 5 min.  If it takes longer, contact me.  You can make tracer dots for them.  This will help them form letters/numbers correctly.  All homework should be done in the homework notebook which will be returned on Fridays.  Homework is assigned to let you know how you can help your child.   It is also given to set up good homework patterns for you and your child.  It is never graded, although stickers are given if it is done.
NOTES/MONEY: All money should be put in an envelope.  Mark the envelope with childs name, purpose of money, etc.  Notes should be put in folder. I do not check booksacks for notes/money.

Encouragement---Ask your child about their day.  Encourage them to do their best.  They should also be encouraged to use good manners, be neat, and to follow directions.  Let them know that it is okay to ask questions if they do not understand.  Behavior Reports are sent home daily.  Discuss this with them everyday.  Please initial them and return them daily(always inside their folders).
