GRADING

A 10 point grading scale is used for tests and nine weeks grades.

            90-100   A

            89-80     B

            79-70     C

            69-60     D

            0-59       F

The grade for each nine weeks is calculated by averaging all tests together as follows:

Tests---- 1 test grade per major test                            Homework--- 1 test grade

Quizzes--- 1 test grade                                                  Bell ringers--- 1 test grade

Students will have a minimum of 7 tests each nine weeks. Graded papers will be kept on file in the teacher’s classroom. Progress reports will be sent home after the fourth week of each nine weeks grading period.

MAKE-UP WORK

Each day assignments are posted in the classroom. Students are allowed one week to make-up all work after an absence. Make-up tests are given between 7:20 and 7:40each morning. Do not ask to make-up tests during class as this would only put you further behind. It is your responsibility to make-up tests and /or assignments.

HOMEWORK/ DAILY ASSIGNMENTS

Any class assignment not completed during class should be completed at home for homework. Daily assignments will be checked for completion or graded for accuracy. Late assignments will not be accepted. Five points will be deducted from students’ homework/daily work grade each time not completed.

QUIZZES

Quizzes pertaining to material being covered in class may be given unannounced. These quizzes will be averaged into one major test grade at the end of the grading period.

TESTS

A major test grade will be given at the end of each unit. Expect a least one test per week over material covered in class or reading assignments given for homework. Tests will be announced. If you are absent for one day, but have been present the prior days to the test and arrive on test day, expect to take the test.

CAREER RESEARCH PROJECT

A Senior Project/research paper is a focused rigorous independent learning experience started and completed during the student’s projected year of graduation from high school. The central focus for the senior project will be career-related.

BELL RINGERS

Bell ringers will be assigned daily during the first 5 minutes of class. These should be kept in a composition notebook and will be checked for a test grade at the end of each grading period
