All About Me!

I just wanted to tell you a little bit about myself.  My name is Leah Turner and this is my 21st year of teaching special education.  I received my Bachelor's Degree from Southeastern in May of 2001 and then went right back to school to get my Master's Degree in Special Education in May 2003.  I am also a National Board Certified Teacher as an Exceptional Needs Specialist since 2006.  In August 2011 I finished my add-on certification for significant disabilities.  If I didn't torture myself enough I returned to school at LSU to begin my doctoral program in Curriculum & Instruction. I just completed my Ph.D. in August 2019!  I taught in a Self-Contained/Resource classroom for 7 years working with Mild/Moderate students.  Then I taught 5 years  in the significant disabilities/autism classroom.

I've been married 20 years to a wonderful man and we have a 17-year-old daughter who is a senior and a seven-year-old daughter who is second grade!  I love to read and go shopping!  As a family we enjoy going to Astros baseball games, board games, and feeding the ducks in the lake behind our house.
Feel free to email me with any questions or concerns and keep working with your child at home.
