We are having a great year!

Reading

3rd and 4th grade: We are currently reading Charlotte's Web. We are learning what makes a good friend.

5th grade we are reading Hatchet. It is a wonderful book of adventure and the courage a young boy has when he is involved in a plane crash in the middle of the Canadian wilderness.

Language

Each morning we go over our Daily Language Review or Daily Oral Language (DOL). The students have these lessons in their DOL folders. Each night they are to look over the 5 skills each day, Monday through Thursday, and then on Friday I take a grade on a worksheet that covers the same skills that were in our DOL for the week.

We are also working on Framing Your Thoughts, which helps students with writing complete sentences and getting them ready to be able to put their thoughts in writing to form paragraphs.

Spelling

If students do not finish Workbook pages during class, they are to complete them at home. On Friday the WB pages will be turned in and graded for a participation grade.

Spelling Homework: Students have a list of spelling activities in the front of their spelling notebook. Each week students are to pick 3 of the activities to complete by Friday. This will count for 6 homework points.

Our spelling test are on Thursdays.

 Math

4th and 5th grade - Each student has a Math Moves folder. Every Friday we will have a quiz on the problems we have worked on that week. During the week, we will also work in our Go Math workbooks. We are also working on multiplication facts. Each student works on thier own pace. We take one multiplication fact at a time. If student makes an A on a 5 minute timed test on that fact, then they get to go to the next fact. If they don't make an A, then they stay on that fact until they can make an A on that fact.
