My name is Holleigh Crow and I look forward to teaching your child this year! I graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University with a bachelor degree in elementary education. I am now in my 26th year of teaching and 18 of those have been at Gray's Creek. The Gray's Creek community is special to me because my husband and I both grew up in this area. My sons, Trent and Vance, both attended Gray's Creek Elementary and are currently as DSHS and University of New Orleans. Our family enjoys football, hunting, fishing, and backpacking in beautiful places. We are also all singers and love using our ability to help lead worship at our home church, Hebron. Trent plays the cello and trumpet while Vance plays the trombone and acoustic guitar. Music plays a big part of our family fun!
When I was a kid my Mom would play the piano and have us sing along. As a children's choir participant I found out that I loved to sing! Later I would take 8 years of piano lessons that would give me the ability to read music. My true love of music would be realized in high school as I sang in choir at church and then went on to participate in all state youth choirs and ensembles. I have always looked for ways to incorporate music into my classroom, no matter what my subject area was. Now as a music teacher, I have a blast teaching GCE students music concepts that include reading music, singing in choir, having fun with rhythm and sound, and playing instruments!
My teaching experience includes teaching 4th grade ELA, 5th grade Math and Science, 1st grade all academics and 6th-8th grade Sciences. I was given the opportunity to begin Gray's Creek Elementary's Music Program in 2014. This was an exciting and rare opportunity that I will always treasure!! After my directing 40 plus musical programs including numerous solos, dances, instrumental choirs, singing and oh yes DRAMA, I still crave finding programs for our students to perform. Don't miss out on seeing your child's music program this year!
