MRS. BABIN’S WEEKLY LETTER
Sept. 13 – Sept. 17, 2021
READING – This week, we will be retelling stories and writing about them everyday! Please have them read the books in the colored envelopes to you and sign once on the parent signature line to show you’ve heard them read. This does count as a daily grade and your signature is required to receive the points. We will also have a weekly Reading/Writing grade that will be scored using a rubric.
SPELLING – the new Spelling words are: out, hop, look, town, pot. We will practice them at school everyday. Please continue to practice at home! Test is Friday, 9/17.
MATH - Our lesson this week is called “Understand Missing Addends”. We will understand the relationship between addition and subtraction and learn how to write a missing addend equation for a corresponding subtraction sentence. We will have a quiz on Thursday, 9/16. Homework was sent home today in their Homework Folder and is due Friday (this counts as a 5 point grade every week).
SCIENCE – We are working on our unit on Animal and Plant Defenses. This week, we will learn that animals use different structures to get food. The students will have a quiz on the concepts learned this week Friday, 9/17.
SOCIAL STUDIES – We have moved on to a unit about building violence prevention skills. We’ll learn what violence is, how it affects different people, and how people can deal with violence in healthy ways. Our test will be Thursday, 9/16.
