We use myView Literacy in class, which is a comprehensive, interactive literacy program that provides a balanced approach to teaching reading, writing, speaking, listening, and viewing using a collection of authentic reading texts and writing workshops. Connected Reading and Writing Workshops focus on teaching the critical skills and strategies students need to be highly competent thinkers, readers, and writers who are ready for college and career! 

 

In 4th & 5th grades..

We will be exploring a variety of different units and literary techniques.  During our class time, we do an assortment of activities.  We will be introduced to and study new vocabulary words that will help us grow as readers and writers.  As a whole class, we will take part in different independent and guided reading activities, as we read different novels and informational texts. Having your child read every day is critical for their success! It doesn't matter what they are reading, as long as it happens for at least 20 minutes a day.
