About Our Class:

Learning Support intends to provide an individualized educational program in a  small group setting and/or within the General Education classroom. This support targets a child's specific learning needs and offers instruction at an appropriate pace for your child in the least restrictive envionment.  The class also delivers frequent practice and  review of skills, and is alligned to the general education curriculum occurring in your child's homeroom.

As a parent of a child in Support Class, you will be invited to attend an IEP Meeting in order to participate in developing a unique learning plan for your child.  We look forward to your involvement in this important process.

Homework is important practice for our children.  It will be assigned Monday-Thursday night.  Tasks will be geared to reinforce specific skills previously learned in the classroom.

When your child brings his homework back to school the following day, he/she will receive a stamp on a homework chart.  When the chart is filled, your child will choose a prize from the Treasure Box.  This positive reinforcement strategy has been successful in showing children they can be rewarded for responsibility and independence.  Homework will begin on September 8.  Parents, please be sure to sign the homework folder each night so that your child may receive a stamp.

Please check back often for news of school and classroom events!  I look forward to working with you to ensure a productive, fun and memorable year for our kids!
