I am Ms. Turnbough, your child’s school librarian, and I am delighted to have your child in my library. As you know many changes are taking place in our school district, library included. Our traditional way of experiencing the library is back to normal. Students are checking out books and working on their Accelerated Reader goals. I have high expectations for your child, and I will do all that I can to help your child achieve their goals.
You can help. Many students are used to listening to books online, but this year they will be required to read all of their material from the library. A student may not test on any book that has not been checked out by the BFE library unless they can provide a hard copy of the book to either myself or their classroom teacher. Please encourage at home reading and take time to listen to your child read aloud, read to them, and ask questions about the book. It is our goal at Barkdull Faulk Elementary that each class becomes a Carmel Hill Champion Classroom as well as our school being recognized as Champions. It is my personal goal to foster a love of reading in each student that enters my library and create a welcoming environment to help them learn.
Finally, I want you to know that one of my most important goals this year is to keep the lines of communication open with you. Please don’t hesitate to contact me at 318-322-1300 ext. 4169 or [email protected], if you have any questions or concerns during the year.
