Dear Parents and Students,
I will be available to students after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00 to 4:00. Students may use this time to receive tutoring, get additional instruction on their assignments, or take make-up tests.
All information for my class, including my syllabus, study guides, and other handouts, will be posted on my website. Parents, this will give you access to everything your student is working on in English III or English IV. Students, if you lose any of the handouts you are given in class, you can go to the website and print another copy.
Many of the assignments in this class will require access to the Internet, a word processing program, and a working printer. Students will be given the opportunity to use the school's library, but anything they do not finish at school must be completed at home. The school's library is open before, during, and after school.
This class will be participating in the Accelerated Reader program. Students will be required to get 15 AR points for the 2nd and 3rd nine weeks. Honors/AP students will be required to get 20 points. Accelerated Reader will count for two grades. It is very important that students READ!!!
Failure to participate in AR could possibly result in a failing grade.
This year I will be utilizing Remind and Dropbox to keep in contact with students. I am able to send text reminders to students using Remind. I am only able to send a group text and the students are not able to respond. Dropbox is a web-based program that allows students to "drop" their work in a shared folder for easy access when doing presentations or if they need something printed. It is much more efficient than using email attachments or a jump drive.
If you have any questions concerning this class, please feel free to contact me. You may contact me during my planning period which is from 9:30 to 10:30 each day. You may also reach me by phone at 387-2932 x 1425 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
