Classroom Rules and Expectations:

  • Treat all teachers and classmates with respect
  • Treat your surroundings, others’ belongings, and the school with consideration
  • Remain in your seat during active teaching unless otherwise instructed.
  • Bring all materials to every class – this includes pens/pencils, paper, an independent reading book on assigned days, and a charged chrome book.
  • Be in your seat working on Bell Work BEFORE the bell rings
  • Focus on our class - do not work on other class assignments in here
  • Do your own work – do not cheat or plagiarize.

Cell Phones: We will follow the state law for cell phones. If a cell phone is visible, the phone rings, or a student is caught on the phone during class, the phone will be taken and given to the office where it will be returned at specific times to the parent or guardian.

Plagiarism/Cheating/AI:  Dual Enrollment English courses through ULM require stringent adherence to the university's AI policy.  All parents and students have signed this policy.

“As with countless emerging technologies throughout history, generative AI tools have the potential to be both exciting and disruptive. While there undoubtedly are (or will be) creative and ethical ways to harness the potential of ChatGPT and other AI applications, all too often these tools are being used to undermine the learning process.

We create new knowledge by using critical thinking to evaluate and elevate existing knowledge—something AI cannot yet do. AI, including machine-generated writing, can only cobble together existing thoughts, evidence, and data without giving proper credit.

Students are prohibited from submitting any work (text, images, videos, etc.) produced even in part by generative AI tools as part of their evaluation in the course. In short, no final products of any kind should be produced using generative AI tools.

If a student submits work produced even in part by generative AI tools for assessment, the assignment will be graded as “0” or “Unsatisfactory” (depending on the grading scheme of each course and section), and the instructor will file an academic violation report. The sanction received will depend on the reported action and preponderance of evidence.”
