Homework
- All homework should be in the "Bring back to school" section of your child's purple ELA folder.
- Spelling homework is to be done each night. Other homework pages may be given 1-2 times a week (depending on what skills we are learning that week) .
- Students will also have weekly fluency homework. I do not pick fluency homework up until the end of the week. This homework can be found in the second clear pocket in their ELA folder. Please practice with your child each night and record the number of words they read in a minute for each night.
Tests
- Spelling Tests are always on Friday (unless otherwise stated).
- Cold-reads are given some weeks for a test grade. We are practicing cold-reads frequently in class.
- Grammar skills tests will be given periodically throughout the year.
- Important grammar test dates will be sent home in your child's purple ELA folder beforehand.
- DIBELS- Your child will be progress monitored every month using DIBELS NEXT. Nonesense words, sight words, and fluency stories will be sent home periodaclly for practice homework. Please check your child's purple folder every night.
Things to know
- The texts used for cold-read tests cannot be sent home beforehand. Although, the stories follow stories we read together in class.
- A new oral reading fluency reading passage will be placed in your child's purple folder at the beginning of each week. I pick these passages up at the end of the week. Please make sure you record their WCPM (word count per minute) atleast twice and sign before the end of the week.
- Please check your child's "Keep at Home" section of their Purple ELA folder daily. Stories we read in class are always sent home and I encourage you to practice reading the story with your child.
Contact
- The best way to contact me is through the REMIND app. If you send me a message during the school day, I may not see it right away. Please call the school for any urgent matters.
