Welcome to the Library!
Hi, my name is Sue Clausen. I am a librarian, reading teacher, and technology coordinator at Parks Primary. This will be my twenty-fifth year at Parks Primary. My grandfather, James Babin, was a former principal here and my mother, Rowena Babin, taught here for many years. I proudly follow in their footsteps.
As a certified teacher, I earned a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Education, with a minor in Technology. I am also certified in School Librarian, Computer Literacy, Computer Science, and Kindergarten. I have been teaching for over 29 years.
As the school's librarian, I have made it a goal to build up our library collection in order for it to meet the needs of the students and teachers at our school. The books in our collection have been chosen to match the curriculum. Our library has books to satisfy all book clubs or projects that may be assigned to your child. Students visit the library once a week with their class. In the library, students can check out books, purchase school supplies, and conduct research for class projects. Our card catalog can be accessed through the toolbar on the right hand side. Parents can use this site to look for books.
Students start checking out library books in 1st grade. Students are responsible for the books that they check out. Parish policy states that all lost or destroyed books must be paid for. If a child does not return their library book when their class attends library, they will not be allowed to check out a new book until they return the checked out book.
In order to promote literacy, our library holds a Fall Book Fair. The book fair also serves as a fundraiser for our school library. All proceeds raised from the book fair go to purchase materials for our school library. Thank you for supporting Parks Primary’s Library.
We will have a wonderful year of reading, learning, and fun. Feel free to contact me by phone at 909-2900 ext. 2906 or by email at [email protected].
