Welcome to Pre-K! The first day of school is Monday, August 28, 2017. As you may already know the Pre-K Class is designed to present as many learning opportunities to your child as possible. Student day will begin at 8:10 and dismissal for students will be 3:10 All students will eat breakfast in the classrooms from 8:10 - 8:30 a.m.
Pre-K is an active and fun place to learn. Students will learn to: listen, follow directions, recognize upper and lower case letters, knows letter sounds, recognize first and last name, writes first-and last name, understands: opposites, rhyming words, colors, shapes,recognize numbers 1-20, count to 30, count groups of objects, sorts colors and shapes, extends patterns, position words, fine/gross motor skills, self help skills and many more in the areas of child development and learning.
Big Day for PreK is a comprehensive and engaging curriculum that ensures that every day is a “big day’ for young learners. This new and exciting program embraces children’s natural curiosity, guides their physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development and prepares them for success in Kindergarten and provides daily opportunities for meaningful conversation that will help accelerate oral language development and build vocabulary.
Students will get play outdoors every day, weather permitting. Therefore, sturdy comfortable clothes that you do not mind getting dirty are necessary. Make sure your child’s clothes are easy to pull up and down for bathroom needs and closed toe shoes.
It is recommended that your child has a standard size book bag (not a little tiny book bag), beach towel for rest time (no plastics mats please for safety and health reasons) and a change of clothes in case your child has a wetting accident. The change of clothes can stay inside the book bag at all times, please write your child’s name on all items with a permanent marker.
