Hello, Roy Neal Shelling families!
My name is Miss Campbell, and I am so excited to begin this school year as your school librarian! Before coming to RNSE, I taught junior high in Caldwell parish and all grades at Richwood High School,. Last year, I had the privilege of teaching 4th grade English and Social Studies here at Roy Neal Shelling for half a year. This allowed me to begin building relationships with your children, and I am thrilled to continue serving our students in a new role. I know what a special school community we have, and I can't wait to welcome every child into the library.
I believe the library is more than a room filled with books. First, I consider it a place where everyone is welcome and safe. Once a person feels safe, seen, and heard, curiosity can begin, imaginations grow, and every student can discover something new. Whether a funny story that makes us laugh, an exciting adventure that takes us to another world, or a nonfiction book that teaches us something amazing, every book has the power to open a new door or take us somewhere impossible to reach any other way than between the pages of a book.
My goal this year is to build a library that becomes the heart of our school. I hope to create a place where students, teachers, and families work together to create a lifelong love of reading and learning. I look forward to partnering with parents, collaborating with teachers, and helping every student find books that spark their interests and inspire them to dream big.
I undestand some people stuggle with reading, but there are some great audiobooks out there. If you're interested, let me know. A person can listen to a great book while driving, working out, or just running errands around town. That level of productivity is one blessing of technology I can be on board with.
When I'm not in the library, you'll find me enjoying some of my favorite hobbies, including kayaking, taking last minute road trips, painting, and anything else that allows me to praise God for all the blessings in my life. Additionally, I love learning new things, and I hope to share that excitement with our students throughout the year.
This year, we'll explore wonderful stories, and maybe even write a few of our own. :) We will read works from new authors, celebrate our love of reading together, and make it a habit to grab a book and go somewhere new!! I want each of my students to be THRILLED on library day!
Whether reading about animals, outer space, fantasy, sports, or faraway places, every page provides the opportunity to learn, imagine, and grow. Some of the best adventures I have taken have been between the pages of a good book. Reading will take you places you never believed possible.
I appreciate you allowing me to be part of your child's education. I look forward to an exciting year filled with books, creativity, discovery, and countless adventures.
