Grading Policy – 7th Grade Language Arts
This grading policy is based on a points system, where each assignment is assigned a specific point value. At the end of each marking period, the total points earned by a student will be divided by the total points possible to calculate the percentage grade.
Homework
The cumulative homework grade is worth 50 points per marking period. Each homework assignment is valued between 2 and 5 points. Valid reasons for not submitting homework will be considered for excusal at the teacher's discretion.
Quizzes
Quizzes typically range from 15 to 30 points in value.
Tests and Major Assignments
Tests and major assignments generally have a point value between 60 and 100 points.
Writing Rubrics
Most writing rubrics are assigned a value between 15 and 40 points. However, the rubrics for analysis papers and research papers are valued between 90 and 95 points.
At the end of each marking period, the final grade will be calculated by dividing the total points earned by the total points possible.
