¡Hola!
I'm Señorita Vazquez, the World Language Spanish Teacher for grade levels 2-5. I am a district wide teacher working in 2 schools in Bayonne. I hold a B2 title in Spanish for reading and writing from the Institute of Cervantes. I have family in Spain and Venezuela and spanish is my first language. I am excited for this school year and eager to share all of the beautiful things from hispanic cultures and to help my students learn the spanish language.
This Month's Agenda:
This month in Spanish class, students are participating in a thematic unit centered around the film Ferdinand. Through age-appropriate clips and structured activities, students are exploring important language concepts while connecting them to meaningful themes.
Throughout the unit, students will:
-
Learn and use vocabulary such as fuerte (strong), valiente (brave), tradición (tradition), diferente (different), and prefiero (I prefer).
-
Compare cultural traditions in Spain and the United States.
-
Practice expressing preferences and personal identity in Spanish.
-
Engage in interactive activities, games, and a culminating Escape Challenge to review and apply their learning.
-
During Valentine’s Week, students will also create a Spanish friendship card inspired by Ferdinand’s love of flowers and themes of kindness.
