Welcome to English 11! I'm Ms. Silivanch. 

 

I'm so pleased to have joined the staff of Rita L. Owens STEAM Academy in 2024. I have taught secondary English for twelve years, and college writing for an additional ten. I've also worked as a travel journalist, environmental writer, author of three books for young adults on educational and environmental issues, and published poet. I received my MFA in poetry from Sarah Lawrence College and my BA in English from Rutgers University.

 

In my free time, I enjoy working outside, reading, spending time with my family and our house rabbit Gizmo, learning home repair, flying, and allowing the Duolingo owl to remind me to practice Portuguese.
