GTSD's art program is built around the 2020 New Jersey Student Learning Standards for Visual and Performing Arts, emphasizing artistic literacy, creativity, critical thinking, and cultural understanding across the following five art disciplines:

 

Creating – producing original works

Presenting – sharing and performing art

Responding – critiquing and interpreting art

Connecting – linking art to other disciplines and cultures

Appreciating – valuing and understanding art’s role in society

 

The K–5 curriculum is sequential and cumulative, with concepts and skills introduced at age‑appropriate complexity and revisited with increasing depth.
