Classroom Culture - Independent Reading
Reading beyond the required class material expands your knowledge, deepens your comprehnsion skills, and cultivates an appreciation for learning. Independent reading can greatly enrich your learning experience and broaden your horizons. Whether it's diving into a thrilling mystery, exploring a futuristic science fiction world, or learning about real-life heroes through biographies, each book offers a unique journey and insights.
Fortunately, our classroom library is stocked with a variety of genres to suit different interests, from romance and science fiction to biographies and suspense novels. I encourage you to borrow any book that catches your eye—just make sure to let me know and sign it out through our in-classroom system. Additionally, you have access to the WNY Middle School library (click the hyperlink for the website), where you can explore even more texts.
Throughout the year, you will NEED to have an independent book with you EVERYDAY. This will give you the opportunity to enjoy reading even during short breaks or downtime. Your completion of books will be evaluated throughout the school year.
Remember, reading is like having a conversation with the world’s greatest minds. So, pick up a book and let your imagination soar!
Happy reading!
