August 2025
Dear Families,
I am so excited to welcome your child to their new classroom! I have been preparing for your arrival and can't wait for you to begin! Before your child starts, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Kristin Nicolicchia, however my students refer to me as Mrs. Nic. While this is my second year teaching in the Washington Township School District, it will be my 18th year teaching. Over my teaching career, I have worked in a variety of different settings from preschool to second grade in both general education and special education classes. Fourteen of those years have been spent in the preschool setting.
Here are a few important details to help us start the year smoothly:
-
Back Pack-Your child will need a backpack that should be labeled with their name. The backpack should be big enough to fit a standard size folder and have room for some fun projects that we will create throughout the school year together! The folder will be provided by the school on the first day of school and should come to school with your child everyday.
-
Lunch/Snack - In addition to our lunch block, the children will be having a snack on a daily basis. Please make sure to pack your child a nut-free lunch as well as an extra snack in a lunch box labeled with their name. **If your child is attending a half-day session, you will only need to pack them a nut-free snack.
-
Change of Clothes- I would also ask that you provide a change of clothes for your child in a zip lock bag labeled with their name. The change of clothes should include a shirt, shorts/pants, underwear and socks as well as pull-ups and wipes if needed. This change of clothes will remain in the classroom for the school year.
-
Rest Time- For full day students, a rest time will be scheduled each day. Please send in a blanket and pillow in a labeled bag that we can store in the classroom. They will be sent home each Friday for you to wash and return the following week.
-
SeeSaw- I’m excited to share that we’ll be using SeeSaw as our classroom
communication platform! Keep an eye out for an email with details on how to download the app. Through SeeSaw, you’ll be able to stay updated on our classroom adventures, enjoy pictures and stories about your child’s day and easily send me quick notes or questions. I can’t wait to connect this way!
-
Family Pictures- Please send your child into school with a few family photos for us to display in our class photo album. We will be creating a special family album so that the children can take a little of home and incorporate it into our classroom family!
I am looking forward to getting to know your child as we learn, grow and play together at Old Farmers Road School! I am confident that together, we will make this a great year! My email address is [email protected] Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions, concerns or information you would like to share with me regarding your child. I hope you all enjoy your last days of summer and look forward to meeting you soon!
Thank you,
Mrs. Nicolicchia
