`I am Marquezz Lewis and I will serve as the 5th and 6th grade math teacher for the 2026-27 school year. This will be my second year at Roy Neal Shelling Elmentary school and I am excited to teach new students as well as a lot of students that I had in my previous year.
The curriculum will be taught from the same resource as previous years which is Eureka Math Squared. This resource is easily accessible and I will send home reminders for the family of the curriculum and what your student is currently working on as I encourage parents to work along with their students as they embark on learning this new material. Students are also required to complete three Zearn lessons per week, so if students are not able to complete their assignment within the 30 minutes of class designated to Zearn it is encouraged to complete these assignments at home.
This year I will take the ignitiative to provide students with study guides before most module tests, as I am also teaching with an emphasis on study skills and study habits. I am asking and encouraging parents and guardians to assist in this effort in a way to equip students with skills they can translate to their remaining journey in education.
