Welcome to the 2025–2026 academic school year at Roy Neal Shelling Sr. Elementary! I am excited to have your children in my 5th grade Science and Social Studies class. This year, students will engage in hands-on science investigations and explore fascinating historical events from ancient civilizations to modern times.
For Social Studies, we will primarily use Gallopade, an online learning platform that allows students to access their student textbook both at school and at home. In addition to the digital version, students will also receive a hard copy of the book, which they are expected to take home daily. Reviewing class content each evening is highly encouraged to support learning and retention.
In Science, students will use a personal science logbook to record daily investigations, observations, and reflections. This logbook is a vital part of our science curriculum and must be brought to class every day. Failure to bring required materials, such as the social studies book or science logbook, may impact a student’s grade.
