 Culminating Writing Task:

 

Throughout the unit, you’ve read texts in different formats about the personal experiences of individuals with various perspecves. Compose an essay that compares and contrasts the structure of Brown Girl Dreaming and your independent reading memoir text to answer the queson: How does each text’s structure contribute to the author’s purpose? Be sure to discuss the overall structure of each memoir (Ex. parts/secons, chapters, diary entries, chronological, cause and effect, etc.). summarize the major events in each secon/chapter/etc. of both texts. discuss each author’s perspecve of the events by analyzing aspects such as word choice, figurave language, tone, etc. compare any common topics or themes that e the secons/chapters/etc. together. analyze how the events in each secon/chapter/etc. support each author’s purpose.
