United States History II is designed to examine historical personalities and events as related to cultural and national development from the 1890s to the present. Content is presented conceptually within a chronological framework. Students will be afforded an opportunity to formulate a comprehensive understanding of history with an emphasis on the impact of change. They will be responsible to not only read the available historiographies of various events and periods, but to critically also analyze it. Knowledge of history is the precondition of political intelligence. Without history, a society shares no common memory of where it has been or what its core values are. Students will gain an understanding of these principles through practical application of acquired knowledge and the utilization of diverse resources.
