1.  Be a good speech model.  Avoid the use of 'baby talk.'  Use correct grammar.
2.  Speak clearly, and slowly to allow for auditory processing of what has been said.
3.  Try to look at your child when speaking.
4.  Repeat correctly what your child has said and have your child repeat directions that you have given.
5.  Have fun with speech---some games to play are various versions of:

            I am going to the store and I am going to buy...each person takes a turn to add an item to the list while beginning with the first item each time.  variations can include going camping, going on vacation, etc.
            I am thinking of something that is......take turns giving the clues and trying to guess what the person is describing.
            Simon Says and Mother May I are also fun and require listening skills.
    This is just a sample list of fun things to do with your child involving speech situations.  Most can even be done in the car.
